Something wonderful

Yesterday was a Scquilters meeting and we were extremely lucky to have Reverend Wendy Snook and a wonderful group of ladies from the Cranbourne area visit us and share the story of the most amazing quilt they made to commemorate 100 years since the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli.  You can read about it HERE.

The detail is amazing.

Original photographs were used in the design of the vessels and soldiers.

There are 4888 two inch squares making up the landscape.

Dianne Mitchel, Carmel Perkins, The Reverend Wendy Snook, Lorraine Jaques,

Rosemary Kreun and Annie Loft were the driving force behind the artwork.

Another LINK to an adorable project.

It is shared very generously shared by Lauren at beautiful Molly and Mama.

Lauren's gorgeous design was originally shared on & Stitches in this post HERE.

Hope you have a fun day

  2. What an incredible quilt.... just beautiful! Christine x

  3. Awesome quilt! Thanks so much for sharing with us. And I have to make that pincushion!!

  4. The quilt is stunning. A true work of art.

  5. That is an amazing quilt! So much meaning and so beautiful too. It is truly a quilt where the group used the talents of all the members and put them to good use.

  6. Did they use applique on this quilt, or did they use the inktense pencils to make the people, boats, flowers, etc.

  7. OMG that is one of the most stunning art quilts I have seen for a long time. Hats off to the group, there are endless hours in the design (clever to make it into separate quilts) let alone the execution of the work. Well done and thank you so much for sharing.

  8. Wow! so glad you shard the, Melody. Stunnng...and a precious legacy to those brave men.
