A Charity Quilt

I'VE BEEN MAKING
...a charity quilt top.

This year I am going to try really, really hard to make a charity quilt top each month.  I've got lots and lots of fabric and enough spare time to devote some to helping some-one else.  I plan to give these to Inspirational Quilts, a charity which gives 'quilts to people who are currently going through a tough and challenging time'.  Luckily Nancy is happy to accept flimsies as well as finished quilts.

FABULOUS FREE STUFF
Today's find is a Tutorial for a Roll-Up Tote Bag.  Thanks to Jenny and Angel at Stumbles and Stitches. I plan to make a couple for my Christmas pressie box.

MAX
Here's little Max who is staying because my neighbours fences are still damaged after the storm.  Isn't he a sweetie-pie. Here he is hoping to share my dinner.

Today is the second last day to enter my giveaway so just scroll down to my 500th post.

  1. Love the courthouse steps flimsy. A top a month is a good goal. Like you, I have more fabric than I will ever use... so I too hope to be better at my time management and make more quilts for charity.

Hope all your goals for 2012 are achieved!

  2. I love that flimsy and Max is adorable. I decided last month to start using up some of fabric by making baby quilts ... just have to wait for friends to have grandbabies or for gr. grandbabies of my own, lol. Would love to be able to make and give quilts for charity - will have to find out if such a thing exists in my neck of the woods. Happy 2012!

  14. Charity quilts are always projects that makes my heart sing. I stitched a set of Helen's Aussie blocks for a donation quilt to the Queenland flood relief earlier this year but have not seen a picture of the finished quilt. I'll have to drop Helen an email. This year I'll be making Quilts of Valor for our local veteran hospital again and quilts, pillow cases and crayon bags to a local shelter for abused women and their children. There is always a demand for donation quilts and it is a great way to draw from my stash....it justifies... always the need to add to my stash....I feel better adding that last comment. I'm a new follower and am heading over to your 500 post giveaway....hope I'm not too late....the time differenct from the USA always is a challenge for me.....I think you are ahead timewise. Say hi to Karen, I see she has left you a comment...she is the best of the best....blogging friend....hugs Pauline

  15. Love the quilt and good luck with your resolution! I think a quilt would be lovely to receive as a gift when life was not going well. Did you resist sharing with Max - think it would have been tough with those eyes. My little Maltese, Dimity, is like that. Did you go ok through the storm - saw it on the news. Looked awful. Take care.
