30's Dresdens

Last time I saw Rosalie Dekker at Stitching with Rosie she gave us the template to make the dresden flowers which will surround each little house stitchery in Flowerville.  So last night I made one and I do think it brings the stitchery to life.  I plan put rickrack around around each stitchery as I think it gives it more of a thirties look...shame I did all that chain stitch around each block as it will be covered by the rickrack.

I haven't bought the background fabric yet but I'm thinking a little check, a bit like baby gingham and I've got my eye on a beautiful repro 30's print in blue for the sashings. (please just ignore the purple spots in the background here - it's my ironing board cover)

I won't be able to make it to this month's class, but that's OK as I'm not up to date with the stitcheries anyway.  I will, however,  miss spending time with super fun Rosie and all the other lovely ladies in the class.

Today I'm sharing a LINK to a really lovely cushion with a hexie theme.  This one is definitely going on my to do list.
There is a great tutorial too.  It comes from wonderfully creative Bev at Flamingo Toes.  Enormous thanks to Bev for sharing it with us.
Have a happy day
Love

  4. What a fabulous stitchery and your colours really make it zing. I like the purple spots in the background and thought that was your choice, ooops

  5. Why not stitch the rickrack just outside the white circle. Then a tiny band of jewels would show - small sections of the Dresden petals. This would tie the red, the circles, and the Dresden together in a different way without sacrificing your lovely stitching.

  16. Why don't you try the Ric race over the edge of the circle . That way you could still see your chain st..

  17. Louise M has a great idea. I would put it just behind the rim of the circle, that way it preserves your chain stitch. Your fabric is gorgeous.
