Tuesday Treasures

This week's treasure is not an actual thing but rather an event.  The Suzuki Night Market.  It is held at the  Queen Vic Market site on a Wednesday night but with a totally different bunch of traders.  It only happens on summer evenings and is a great place to be on a warm balmy Melbourne night.
For me the very best part is the food.  Every imaginable cuisine is available and just about everything is priced under $10.

When I went last Wednesday night I gobbled up a curry plate from the vegan stall then the most delicious lemon meringue cup cake and a freshly made lemonade. John did take a picture of me devouring my cake with glee, but I'll spare you that sight. There are also a number of bars and heaps of people wander around with a sangria loaded with orange peel and spices.
I really wanted a plate of the deep fried honey puffs with ice-cream and chocolate sauce but just didn't have room to fit them in.  Maybe next time.  John looked longingly at the paella but there was a really, really long queue so he'll have to wait till next time for this too.
It's heaps of fun with a large, happy crowd and it makes you realise and rejoice in the fact that Melbourne is such a multicultural city and by and large every one lives together very harmoniously.

Do you have something you treasure to share with us all.  It can be a person, a place or a thing. Anything you like really.  Just pop your details into Mr Linky and play along.

PS Don't forget it's Teddy Bears Picnic this Thursday.

  11. Oh..a little bit of Melbourne homesickness! I had forgotten about this market. Worth a note to self though for when we are next over. And as Tracee said - the trading is just a bonus to the food!

  12. Mmm... I can almost taste it. The Queen Vic was one of my favourite markets when I lived in Melbourne way back when. Although they didn't have food nights back then.

  13. This was great to see - I didn't realize the vic market was used during the week, so really good to know for when we are down in the city.
