For me the very best part is the food. Every imaginable cuisine is available and just about everything is priced under $10.
I really wanted a plate of the deep fried honey puffs with ice-cream and chocolate sauce but just didn't have room to fit them in. Maybe next time. John looked longingly at the paella but there was a really, really long queue so he'll have to wait till next time for this too.
It's heaps of fun with a large, happy crowd and it makes you realise and rejoice in the fact that Melbourne is such a multicultural city and by and large every one lives together very harmoniously.
Do you have something you treasure to share with us all. It can be a person, a place or a thing. Anything you like really. Just pop your details into Mr Linky and play along.
PS Don't forget it's Teddy Bears Picnic this Thursday.
sounds amazing Mel
ReplyDeletedidn't know about this market event. We are going to try to get there for a sticky!
ReplyDeletespoilt sport not showing the cake pic, you just didn't want to share your lemon meringue
Thanks for the reminder Mel! it's been a few years since we ventured in and i think its time for another visit!
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds lovely - I'd love to visit!
ReplyDeleteAnywhere that serves authentic exotic foods at great prices is indeed a treasure to me. Tracee xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun and exciting place to visit, Melody...you probably don't have too many excuses to visit again!
ReplyDeletelooks awesome Melody... that's my kind of market (I thought I commented before but it disappeared!) wish I had known about it when I was there..

I must put this on my 'to do' list Mel. It looks like such fun and as you say what a wonderful way to spend a Summer Evening in Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteThese markets are great fun. And I agree that the foods are the best part!
ReplyDeleteI was getting hungry just reading about it. I love a good market and that one sounds great.
ReplyDeleteOh..a little bit of Melbourne homesickness! I had forgotten about this market. Worth a note to self though for when we are next over. And as Tracee said - the trading is just a bonus to the food!
ReplyDeleteMmm... I can almost taste it. The Queen Vic was one of my favourite markets when I lived in Melbourne way back when. Although they didn't have food nights back then.
ReplyDeleteThis was great to see - I didn't realize the vic market was used during the week, so really good to know for when we are down in the city.
ReplyDeleteThe market sounds great. A good way to while away an evening.
