Isn't it wonderful? I've got bit of a thing about these crocheted blankets. I adore them. I've got half a dozen I've purchased over the years but this is my favourite. In my mind they conjure up images of cozy kitchens, with a scrubbed pine table in the middle and mismatched chairs all around. Steamy cups of tea from an old brown teapot and a delicious boiled fruit cake. Maybe scones and jam and cream. And laughter and shared anecdotes and funny recollections. And a more relaxed time, when we didn't have to rush around.
I am right there with you Melody. I can even smell the scones. My Nan made one each for my hubby and I and they live on the back of our chairs. So great for that little nap. Our kids laugh at us but we don't care. You're right they give you a cozy feeling. Great find.
ReplyDeleteYou've set a great scene. Looking forward to winter and snuggling weather.
ReplyDeleteMe too - reminds me of my grandmother and one of my Aunties...you dont see them much these day...that's a lovely one
ReplyDeleteIt is a great find. Crocheted blankets remind me of my nanna. She made quite a few of them. Luckily I got to have some after she passed away.
ReplyDeleteThey are just like a huge nanna hug! Glad you didn't leave it there all alone.
Crochet blankets must be the homeliest item I know... that is a great one too...

What a fantastic find and now it has a good home, well done Melody.
ReplyDeleteI've inherited a few of these from my Grandfather, through my Father. :) My Grandfather's Sister made them. My Nana was into embroidering doilies and things so I have a great collection of them! I've also inherited lots of their fabulous hand written recipes, including little notes on the side as to alterations they made to the original recipe! Priceless! :)
ReplyDeleteI have made quite a few of those in my day , don't have any of my own now , but sort of wish I had kept one for those cold winter nights. Great find and nice colors .
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely blanket. There is something soo soothing about wool around you to snuggle with. By the way Melody I am in you team for the pin cushion swap. Sent mine away this morning. Blessings: Dianne.
ReplyDeleteLove this post Melody - oh for the simpler times! I wouldn't mind sitting at that scrubbed kitchen table, in a mismatched chair, having a cup of tea and a slice of cake (or a scone!) with you.
