Teddy Bears Picnic

I have always loved teddy bears and for many years I designed them, made them and taught others to make them too.  I thought I'd devote a few Thursdays to celebrating them here on my blog and that's why I'm having a

A Free Pattern

This weeks free pattern is for Sam  Please click here to view and download his pattern. Click here for the instructions. I chose Sam because he is very easy to make and can be made out of any fabric as long as it has a little bit of 'give' or stretch.  If you make him out of a tightly woven fabric he will be very skinny. He was originally designed for  'Handmade' Volume 18 number four .  You can reduce the pattern size if you wish.  Many students did and he has been made as small as 4" high.
Share a Teddy Bear

Do you have a teddy bear you'd like to share with us?  Please do.  It can be handmade, a gift or a purchase or op shop find. Just add your name to Mr Linky and we'll know where to find you and your bear.  If your bear has a story please tell it to us too.  By the way, other softies are welcome as well.
If you share you'll receive an entry in a small giveaway I've organised.  Leave a comment and go into the draw.  Do both and you will get two entries. Pop back for next week's Teddy's Bears picnic to see who is the winner.

Teddy Bear( and other softie)  Bloggers

Liz Stanway
Liz is one of my all time favourite quilt designers.  I've made quite a few of her projects and have a couple more waiting to be started.  Everything she designs is charming and her blog, Teddlywinks is wonderful.  Not only does it give an insight into her life, she shares sewing tips and has 2 gorgeous free patterns on offer.

 Carolyn Green
I met Carolyn here in our little part of the blogging world.  She makes one of a kind handmade teddybears and some are for sale including this adorable grandma bear.  Her blog, Draffin Bears Little Bear Studio is so beautiful and always an interesting read.

Toni from Red Boots
This weeks softie maker is Toni.  Everything on her blog is joyful, colourful and full of good cheer.  She is currently auctioning the most adorable teddy quilt to raise funds for the Queensland Flood Relief appeal.  You can read about it HERE

Please Consider Helping

If you are an animal lover please consider supporting the Free The Bears Fund.  I do and it makes me feel good to know that I am helping to give the bears in various sanctuaries around the world a safe, peaceful and happy existence.
Next week's Teddy Bears Picnic will have a pattern for Sam's cute little Jacket. You can make it in any size and it would look good on any bear, dolly or softie you want to keep warm and cozy.
