Out in the wild and windy weather

Yesterday the weather in southern Australia was wild.  And it was cold, seriously cold, with snow predicted as low as 500 metres.  I adore the cold and John had the day off so it was off on an adventure - to Mt Macedon - elevation about 620 metres.

I'm not admitting to an ulterior motive but there is a lovely quilt shop in nearby Gisborne.
I did have a little spend.  Gorgeous reproduction fabrics only $3 a fat eighth. These will be added to my Times Past stash.  I love Bottomline thread for my bobbin and have a lot of trouble finding it so it was wonderful to find it here. The button is for a little Christmas project.
Then it was off to 3 Little Pigs for a hearty bowl of vegetable and lentil soup.
Lucky we didn't have little Henry with us or he would have had to go in the Piglet Pen.
Then it was off to the Mt Macedon summit where there is a beautiful tribute to the men and women who laid down their lives for Australia.
It was really cold, divinely cold.  I love breathing in chilled air.  I come alive.  And luckily we'd both gone dressed in warm clothes.

I don't know if this was a remnant of snow or sleet and hail but it was wonderful to see it there. Oh who is this elegant creature?
One of my favourite things about being on the mountain is the moss everywhere. We have both loved this place forever and visit often.  Who knows we might get to retire here one day
So after a good walk around it was off to the cafe on the mountain for a devonshire tea and a mug of hot chocolate.
And then we headed for wonderful Hanging Rock and a roll of the car uphill.  My camera's battery was now dead so no pictures but you can see someone else doing it HERE.  We rolled for almost a kilometre UPHILL.  I love the idea the rock was drawing us in.  This is another truly magical place.
I felt I had to find a cute snowman pattern today.  And this one is really cute.  It is a free pattern very kindly shared at Plum Pudding Needleart HERE.
I found it by following a LINK on Sew Much 2 Love  Here is Karen's version.
Have a wonderful day.
Love

  2. Hope you and John had a great day Mel, it was bitterly cold here yesterday, but I like it too. I see you had lunch at my favourite cafe, and made some purchases at one of my favourite quilt shops! Hope you liked 3 Little Pigs, my nephew is too big to put in the piglet pen these days, but it looks like lots of fun in there, Henry would have enjoyed it if he had been with you. Next time you are up this way hope we can catch up - how lovely if you could retire up here! xx
