2016 Free Boms

I'm signing up too.

Hi, my name is Melody and I'm a fabriholic.  Time for an intervention.
I saw this on Sharon's blog, Lillabelle Lane, and it's come at the right time for me too.  So I'm signing up.  If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the size of your stash and you want to take part just pop over and join Jess at the Elven Garden.  Just like Sharon I plan to vary the rules a little but basically I'm only going to buy fabric if it is to finish a project I've already started or for a special gift.

A post by wise Jenny at Elefantz started me thinking this way.
So I'm going to use my stash whenever I can and go through it routinely to reduce its size.

This is my first promise to myself for 2014.

An English Paper Piecing Travel Kit - wow wow wow!
I LOVE this project and it has one of the best tutorials I've seen. So detailed and with excellent pictures.
I plan to make one and leave it in my car so I'm all ready to make hexies whenever I'm waiting for someone.  Enormous thanks to Haley at The Zen of Making.  The tutorial is HERE.

  1. Yes melody I agree! I started using just my stash during the year! and only buying fabric to finish off! like the quilt I've just finished for my daughter for Christmas. Each of those shoes, plus the block backgrounds and sashings all came from my stash! I just needed to get the Paris backing and the binding to make it all stand out

  5. Good for you!! I'm not game to go cold turkey with fabric, it's nice to buy as a treat. I've noticed I'm buying less fabric these days anyway. That hexie case is so fabulous, and what a great idea to have one in the car.

  7. Oh I don't know Mel, don't think I can do that as my finger loves to press those buy buttons online..

  9. We all have good intentions. Well I do anyway and then the first sale comes along and I see something I just have to have. I am already planning what Christmas fabrics I want. Have to admit that I am trying really hard to use up all the old Christmas fabrics this month. I hope you try the log cabin Santa. He is really cute and I thought it was great that you get two from one block. I love the little travel pocket design. I might have to make one of those today. I am doing a little cross stitch to post about tonight and it is a bit intense. I am not a hexagon fan so I will have to think of some other decoration for the fronts. Thanks for the link. Thanks for your nice comment on my blog. I am unable to reply to you in Google+ for some reason.

  11. Lol! I'm close to committing too Melody!! Need to start making some of the things I say I want to make, more than I do just getting together the things I need for the projects, lol!! I have so many bags sitting in my cupboard just waiting to be made up into particular items - I need to start making rather than 'preparing', lol!! ... Thanks for the link to the little bag - that's just so darn cute!! And perfect for paper piecing on the go!!! (And looks much better than my old pencil case too!!!) ... Wishing you a fabulous Christmas sweetie!!! Make the most of it xxx
