Whist undertaking the big tidy of my sewing room I found this gorgeous certificate tucked away. Even though I'd only just turned six I remember this crossing the Equator ceremony really clearly. King Neptune and his helpers put green shaving cream on my face (peppermint ice-cream) and then shaved me with a giant (cardboard) razor and dunked me in the children's pool. I can remember being very proud of this certificate when I was little.
Do you have something to share with us today, it can be a thing, a place, a person anything you like really as long as it is dear to you. Just pop your details into Mr Linky and play along.

ReplyDeleteThankyou for hosting Tuesday Treasures Mel.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been very exciting as a 6 year old. It is a wonder you weren't frightened. How lovely you still have the certificate. Lovely little quilt. I love lighthouses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty certificate and in such good condition too. I can't wait for next week to see everyone's pet piccies. I would love to try a Mariner's Compass..scary though, looks very hard.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great momento. They don't do that on a plane. The compass blocks are beautiful. I think I will save the purple and blue one for a rainy day. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the certificate. What a nice thing to do for a little girl. I left a picture of one of my most favorite characters in a series that I read in my childhood. Beanie Malone was the teenager I hoped to one day be, no matter that she lived in the 1950's and I lived in the 1970's. I wished that I belonged to her family, in a time when my family was constantly in upheaval. I read her books over and over and wish some day to buy the whole series again because I left the books behind and never saw them again when I had to leave my home at age 14.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing experience and a lovely reminder too.
ReplyDeleteI love your certificate and what a fun thing to do. I remember we did something similar on a cruise I went on years ago. But there was definitely no mint icecream!!! I would have remembered that! Love that piccy of the puppy at the end.. so cute! I'm looking forward to next week.. thanks Melody xx

ReplyDeleteDon't you love finding something and then remembering special events, or conversations that it brings to mind. I had the chance to attend a lecture held by Jinny Beyer. She does fabulous work. That's the cutest puppy.
ReplyDeleteWonderful certificate and lovely memories it brings.
ReplyDeleteCount me in for next Tuesday, I'm sharing my pet. Have to start taking photos.
I've never joined in on your treasures. I would love to join next week. I can't share a pet now..as I don't have any...but perhaps can share a past pet.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody, it was a trip down memory lane to see your certificate. I crossed the equator many moons ago when I was 18 and had a certificate just like yours. Unfortunately it was lost when our house was flooded early last year. I am so glad that you posted yours, I brought back many happy memories of my great adventure to the other side of the world. Vicki
