I'm afraid I didn't put much thought into it. I'm quite impulsive so one day I decided I'd like a blog and five minutes later I had one. The name was the first thing that came into my head, may be because I'd just carried my shopping up the almost 40 steps to my backdoor. Add another 13 to get to the front.
I will say that once you have climbed up, it is really rather lovely as my front deck is up in the tree tops. So here I live, and here I blog at The House on the Side of the Hill.

Wow, Melody - how fantastic to live where you do. I grew up in a fairly steep valley, surrounded by mountains on each side, so just love the trees and being surrounded by bush. To walk out onto your deck and see birds in the trees must be so lovely.
