Farmer's Wife Quilt-A Long
I finally started my Farmer's Wife Quilt. I'm mainly using my Ruby layer cake from wonderful Jane's Want It Need It Quilt shop. I'm adding in a few bits and pieces from my stash.
The above blocks are:
Calico Puzzle No. 16
Basket Weave No. 4
Friendship Star No. 41
Wrench No. 111
I don't plan to do any blocks which I don't like or are too hard. I'll give the tricky one's two tries and then if I can't get them right, they will get chopped up in to little pieces and go in the compost bin. I've discovered chopped up bits of cotton fabric make great compost.
I'm going to try and post what I've made each Friday.
This quilt-a-long is organised by Amanda and Angela and there's a great Flickr stream HERE

Your blocks are looking good Melody. Keep thinking i should get mine started. One day. :) lol. Happy Stitching,
ReplyDeleteThey look great. I've got the book - have had it now a few weeks and been looking through. Love the letters and browsing them. I'm hoping to get started soon, but life has been so busy. Not to worry, the book will be there when I have the time.
ReplyDeleteI admire you for taking on this big task. The first blocks look great so you are off to a great start. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteyour blocks look great Mel. Another thing to go on the to do list.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are lovely. I haven't done a quilt along for just the reason you have stated, in case I find them too hard or I don't like some of them. I am having ago at the Layer Cake QA that has now finished, I can do it in my own time and pick which blocks I want to do...so no pressure. Okay I am a coward!! Linda
ReplyDeleteI like your blocks, the fabrics give them a lovely modern touch. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks look lovely and I am sure all the ones to come will be as well. You do such lovely work Melody.
ReplyDeleteI have just signed up for this too, waiting for my book to arrive, I will have to sit on my hands till then.
