I've just joined...

..... the 'Sew Its Finished' group
organised by Dawn and Wendy. You can find out more here. I have many, many UFO's dating back to over 20 years ago. I'm really hoping this new shared blog and the support it offers will spur me on to complete some of the projects which have waited for attention for awhile.  It's not that I don't like what needs finishing, in fact I love each of the projects, it's just that I get swept up in the joy of starting new projects and existing ones end up on the bottom of the pile.  I know there are still some spots in the group and you don't have to have a blog to join.  It would be fun to have some more of my blogging friends in the group so we can celebrate our UFO finishes together.

I've selected 6 to start with.

Le Jardin .
All I need to do is finish joining the blocks together and sew on some buttons and trims.  I've got its' spot booked with lovely Leanne Kaufman for quilting, this month, so I must do this now

Snowbound
I need to make one last block and sew the blocks together.  This must be done by February as its got a spot booked with Leanne too.

A Tisket a Tasket
All this needs is the binding to be sewn on as it was quilted last year.

A Walk in the Woods
This one dates back over 10 years and only needs two borders to be stitched.  I had to unpick where I had already dated it 1998.
Stitching Around the Block
The four of us making this project together decided to postpone our Round Three swap until mid January and complete Round 4 by early February.  I need to get a wriggle on with Round 3 this week.
Gifts of Grace
I've got the last two blocks to sew and then I need to decide what I am going to make with them and do it.

I've decided to give myself a present each time I finish a UFO.  My first present is going to be a big, creamy, delicious gelati from Trampoline.  I think I will have Lemon, Berry Pav and Passionfruit in a waffle cone. Yum.  There we are, first New Year's resolution broken already. (I resolve not to torture myself by thinking of cake, ice-cream and sweeties all the time.) I knew this one wouldn't last long.

  1. Good for you Mel - I thought about signing up myself but I haven't got many UFO's (unless I count cross-stitch and if I tried to do all of those in 2011 I wouldn't have time for anything else... there are quite a few of them)

I love the last two projects you have listed - the danger is in seeing everybodies UFO's I could end up adding several new items to my own list lol.

Looking forward to following your progress, I'm sure being part of the group will help you achieve loads :0)

  2. Good on you Melody, this sounds like a good idea!! I love the idea of the reward when you have completed a UFO - you do realise that if you had more UFOs you could reward yourself with more treats.....!!

  3. It helps if you make a list, I find. I love all your projects to be finished. I am hoping to quilt my basket top soon too.
The stitching round the block looks gorgeous, love the fabric for the hexies.
I am determined that I won't start a new quilt project till at least one top is quilted!
we'll see if that resolution lasts. lol

  5. You sure do have some lovely quilts to get finished!! I've got lots of tops that need quilting so this year I really hope to bite the bullet and start practising my machine quilting and get them finished. Joining a group is a great idea.

  7. Like the reward system Melody. Have so many UFO's that I don't know where to start. I plan to start some and finish some this year and enjoy myself in the process whatever happens. Your little pink hexies look like mine.

  9. I love a Walk in the Woods... Infact I have the pattern at home after finding it at Morris and Sons... I originally saw it in a craft magazine quite a number of years ago... I was thinking that somehow when I hace a space clear I might start it sometime this year...
