I haven't bought the background fabric yet but I'm thinking a little check, a bit like baby gingham and I've got my eye on a beautiful repro 30's print in blue for the sashings. (please just ignore the purple spots in the background here - it's my ironing board cover)
I won't be able to make it to this month's class, but that's OK as I'm not up to date with the stitcheries anyway. I will, however, miss spending time with super fun Rosie and all the other lovely ladies in the class.
Today I'm sharing a LINK to a really lovely cushion with a hexie theme. This one is definitely going on my to do list.
There is a great tutorial too. It comes from wonderfully creative Bev at Flamingo Toes. Enormous thanks to Bev for sharing it with us.
Have a happy day

Your Flowerville dresden plate looks fabulous! Love the fabrics you are using! Christine x
ReplyDeleteAnd look at that wonderful old bundle of ricrac! I love the idea of a small blue check Mel! This is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, the Dresden complements the stitchery beautifully. I thought the purple spots looked ok......
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous stitchery and your colours really make it zing. I like the purple spots in the background and thought that was your choice, ooops
ReplyDeleteWhy not stitch the rickrack just outside the white circle. Then a tiny band of jewels would show - small sections of the Dresden petals. This would tie the red, the circles, and the Dresden together in a different way without sacrificing your lovely stitching.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much Mel... I want to do it too in those colours..
ReplyDeleteHugz
Your Dresden looks wonderful Mel. The ric rac is a lovely touch.
ReplyDeleteThe word DRESDEN always grabs my attention! It's my all time favourite block. I love your sweet 30's stitchery block, the Ric Rac will at a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love my Tilda Fabrics......I just love your 30's style dresden plate too......on a blue gingham....so devine!
ReplyDeleteOh my! That is looking stunning girl! I love your ironing board cover lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Mel i do love your dresden and stitchery, you do such beautiful work and you have a wonderful eye for colour, also thankyou for my gorgeous gift today, its hanging up proudly on the wall, hope you have a wonderful day xx
ReplyDeleteMelody, I absolutely love the spots! Shame it is your irony board cover, but it really pops the dresden. :-)
ReplyDeletelove your 30's prints for the dresdens, they look so beautiful. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Mel...
ReplyDeleteWow that is awesome xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your version MEL, so you !!!!
ReplyDeletePerfect choice of fabrics Mel - looks gorgeous
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you try the Ric race over the edge of the circle . That way you could still see your chain st..
ReplyDeleteLouise M has a great idea. I would put it just behind the rim of the circle, that way it preserves your chain stitch. Your fabric is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame to cover up all your hard work but I have to agree with you the red ric rac looks divine going around your block, I can't wait to see this one done :) Barb.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful Mel and I just love it with the ric rac on it, very clever.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely plan for Rosie's sweet designs :)
