ReplyDeleteThere is a museum in Bennington, Vermont that has work like this. I remember the first time I saw it, I really couldn't believe it was hair! Apparently this was a common thing to do in Victorian times.
ReplyDeleteHi Mel, what a coincidence to see your post - I was just reading one on the very same thing on Pam Buda's Heartspun Quilts blog. What a fascinating craft, although I agree, while it was not unusual back then, it does seem a bit creepy now. I guess though, that it is about remembering and commemorating our loved ones, and that is always a good thing.... x
